Specialist online accounting for workshops

Do you run a car workshop, tyre service, bodywork shop or auto detailing business and need a partner who understands your industry? Our accounting for car workshops covers separating the sale of spare parts (goods) from the repair service, keeping inventory and margin, recording sales on a cash register when selling to individuals, and VAT settlements. We also keep track of leasing for lifts and diagnostic equipment, as this is often a major item in a workshop's costs.

This is an accounting office for mechanics staffed by experienced accountants, not an app that leaves you alone with the forms. We run your accounting online; you send documents through the Client panel, and we take care of the parts inventory, cash register settlements, employing mechanics and waste management. We compare the forms of taxation individually: vehicle repair falls within the lump-sum tax (ryczalt), but the sale of parts and accessories for motor vehicles is excluded from that form by statute, so we separate both streams and settle them correctly.

Who is this accounting service for?

Car workshops and service centres

Mechanics, electrics, diagnostics and routine repairs, with a parts inventory, a cash register and settlement of services for individuals and companies.

Tyre, bodywork and paint shops

Businesses combining a repair service with the replacement and sale of parts and materials, which require separating goods from the service.

Auto detailing and vehicle care

Detailing studios and car washes that sell services as well as products and accessories, invoice companies and serve individual clients.

What does accounting for a workshop cover?

Parts inventory and margin

We keep a record of the spare parts inventory, settle the margin and separate the sale of goods from the vehicle repair service.

Cash register and retail sales

We settle cash register sales to individuals, daily and monthly reports, and invoicing of services for companies.

VAT, lump-sum tax and rates

Vehicle repair itself falls within the lump-sum tax (ryczalt), but trading in parts and accessories for motor vehicles is excluded from that form by statute - we will check how you invoice parts, compare the available forms and settle VAT in line with the regulations.

Leasing of lifts and equipment

We settle leasing, depreciation and the purchase cost of lifts, diagnostic equipment and workshop and detailing tools.

Employing mechanics

We handle HR and payroll for mechanics and workshop staff: contracts, wages, ZUS (social security) contributions and employer obligations.

Waste management and records

We help organise documentation relating to waste and environmental charges and keep the required records and registers.

Why do workshops choose Luno-Group?

You get a regular, experienced accountant who knows the realities of workshops and auto detailing, who understands how to separate the sale of parts from the service, keep inventory, settle the cash register and choose the right VAT rates, and who will warn you before a problem arises. We work fully online (PL/EN), you send documents through the Client panel, and we compare the forms of taxation on your figures and show you the numbers - the decision is yours. This is an accounting office for workshops where you have ongoing contact with a specific person, not a call centre.

Frequently asked questions

Before you entrust us with your workshop's accounting.

How do you settle the sale of parts and the repair service?+

Selling spare parts is trading in goods, while a repair is a service; in the accounts we separate these two streams, keep inventory and settle the margin. This way we correctly recognise revenue, costs and VAT and apply the right rates for the goods and for the vehicle repair service.

Can a workshop use lump-sum tax (ryczalt)?+

The repair service itself - yes, as a rule at the 8.5% rate applicable to service activity (Article 12(1)(5)(a) of the Lump-Sum Tax Act). Trading in parts and accessories for motor vehicles, however, is excluded from the lump-sum tax by statute (Article 8(1)(3)(f)), and revenue from such sales removes the right to the lump-sum tax for the whole business - it does not merely change the rate. When you sign up, we will check how you invoice parts, compare the available forms and show you the calculations - the decision is yours.

Does a workshop need a cash register?+

When selling services and parts to individuals, recording sales on a cash register is usually required, and in many cases the automotive sector does not benefit from exemptions. We will review the scope of your sales, establish when a cash register is required, and settle daily and monthly reports together with invoices for companies.

How do you keep the spare parts inventory?+

We keep a record of the purchase and consumption of parts and materials, settle the margin and ensure the cost of goods is recognised at the right moment. This way you know how much you really earn on parts, and the sale of goods is clearly separated from the revenue from the repair service in your records.

Is the accounting run fully online?+

Yes, we are an online accounting office. You send documents by scan or photo through the Client panel (you get access after signing the contract), and we handle the bookkeeping and settlements for the workshop. You have ongoing contact with an experienced accountant and service in PL and EN, with no need to visit the office.

How much does accounting for a car workshop cost?+

The price depends on the number of documents, the mechanics employed, whether inventory is kept and the scope of cash register sales. Prices usually start from PLN 99, and for a workshop and auto detailing we tailor the package individually.
